Bailout protest planned in Franklin County

With national attention focused on the financial bailout proposal in Congress, groups nationwide will be taking to the streets in the next few days to protest the estimated $700 billion price tag. One is planned for Saturday in Ottawa.

According to an article in The Hill, the two Republican candidates were able to raise more money than the incumbent Democrats they could face in the November general election, but Nancy Boyda and Dennis Moore still still have the most cash on hand in their races.

Rasmussen poll: Roberts, McCain have 20-point Kansas advantages

A poll by Scott Rasmussen gives huge edges to Sen. Pat Roberts over likely opponent Jim Slattery in November, and the poll also said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., now has a 20-point advantage in Kansas over Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., in the presidential race.

Kansas lawmakers still watching new tanker bid process

The state's congressional delegation voiced optimism Wednesday about Boeing's chances to win a major tanker contract the Air Force originally awarded to a French-based company, but state representatives said it's still no sure thing.
